Obituary of Edward L. Simpson

Monica – Edward L. Simpson, 78, of Monica, died at 1:50 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at his residence.

Edward was born November 19, 1928, in Monica, Illinois, the son of Benjimen Bradley and Rose M. Widger Simpson, he married Bernadine Brooks on December 3, 1978, in Monica.  She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Michael (and Debra) Simpson of Brimfield, IL; one step-son, Jim (and Lori) Golden of Georgia; two daughters, Peggy Marie Sargent of Toulon, IL, and Judith Lynn Hart of Laura, IL; four step-daughters, Eva Marie Whitby of Peoria, IL, Freida Lynn Tucker of Monica, IL, Linda Faye (and Howard) Simmons of Toulon, IL, and Polly Ann (and Rick) Philbee of Princeville, IL; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bob (and Janice) Simpson of Eureka, IL, Ben, Jr. (and Mert) Simpson of Wataga, IL, Paul (and Sandy) Simpson of Kenton, TN, and Herb (and Lorraine) Simpson of Oak Hill, IL; and four sisters, Lila Catton of Princeton, IL, Lela Snider, Delores Senders, and Alta (John) Doling all of Monica, IL.  His parents, two brothers, three sisters, and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death.

He was in the Army Reserves for 7 years.  Edward was a machine operator at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 35 years, before retiring.  He was a member of Monica United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.  Revs. Les Funderberg and Marc Brown will officiate.  Visitation will be two hours prior to funeral service.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery, Princeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Monica United Methodist Church.
