Obituary of Donald B. Sloan

Princeville – Donald B. Sloan, 84, of Princeville, died at 10:22 pm Saturday, May 19, 2007, at University of Iowa Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa.

Donald was born on February 28, 1923, in Princeville, Illinois, the son of Leland J. and Maude E. Shane Sloan, he married Virginia Lee Camp on August 2, 1947.  She died June of 1966.  He then married Mary L. Tess on May 18, 1968, in Chillicothe, Illinois.  She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jerry Sloan of Princeville, IL; one daughter, Diana (and Ken) Donsbach of Bloomington, IL; one brother, Wesley J. Sloan of Princeville, IL; and four grandchildren, Dawn (and Michael) O’Brien of Naperville, IL, Chad Donsbach of Ohio, Jason Sloan of Chicago, IL, and Cole Sloan of Princeville, IL.  His parents and one brother, David Sloan preceded him in death.

He was a World War II Army Veteran serving in Company K 116th Infantry 29th Division.  Donald was a livestock and grain farmer.  He was a member of the Princeville Masonic Lodge #360 AF&AM and the Peoria County Farm Bureau.  He was of the Methodist faith.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.  Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 t0 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery, Princeville.
