Obituary of Kenneth F. Yager
Princeville – Kenneth F. Yager, 68, of rural Princeville, died at 4:30 pm Sunday,
February 4, 2007, at his residence after battling lung cancer for over a year.
Born February 18, 1938, in Peoria, IL, the son of Francis Webster and Civillia Blair Yager, he married Patricia L. Garrison on February 18, 1972, in Bloomington. She survives, along with three sons, Kenneth F. Yager II, of Carmel, IN, James Yager of Peoria, and Tony (and Marcie) Bussman of Mahomet, IL; three daughters, Denise Yager of Phoenix, AZ, Laura (and Henry) Hall of Rock Island, IL, and Rachael (and Andrew) Tuma of West Peoria; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Jerry (and Kelley) Graham of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sara E. Yager in 1991; and one brother, Doyle Yager.
Ken served in the US Army in communications during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for several years as body shop manager for Louis Lakis Ford Lincoln Mercury, later Royal Ford Lincoln Mercury, where he was given a national award by Ford Motor Company as Body Shop Manager of the Year. Later he worked as an automotive and property/casualty and mass casualty appraiser for 13 years for Prudential Insurance Company, spending several months in Florida after Hurricane Andrew. He was a member of the Independent Automotive Damage Appraisers Association.
Ken was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Princeville, where he served as a deacon, and was active with Promise Keepers Christian organization.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, February 9, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church of Princeville. Rev. Harry Losey will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, at the church fellowship hall. Burial will be at Jubilee Cemetery at the Jubilee College State Historic Site in rural Brimfield.
