Obituary of Annabell M. "Ann" Adams

Peoria – Annabell M. “Ann” Adams, 82, of Peoria, died at 2:50 pm Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center.

She was born on February 22, 1926, in Bloomington, the daughter of Delbert and Kathryn Milburn Meils.  She married Kenneth E. “Pete” Adams on December 29, 1946, in Pocahontas, AR.  Pete died on October 28, 2000, in Bay St Louis, MS.  Also preceding her in death was a grandson.

Surviving are three sons, Kent (and Donna) Adams of Brentwood, TN, Grant (and Paula Salazer) of Griffin, GA, and Rex (and Ritsuko) Adams of Madison, CT; one daughter, Kathy (and Larry) Cobb of Peoria; ten grandchildren and one great grandson. 

Ann was a 1944 graduate of Flanagan High School and a 1948 graduate of Eureka College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education, as well as an additional thirty hours of course work.  While at Eureka she was a member of Delta Delta Pi sorority.  She taught seventh & eighth grade math for District 150 for 25 years, first at Woodrow Wilson School, then later at Sterling Middle School, retiring in 1991.

For over 40 years, Ann & Pete spent time at Diamond Head, MS, where they were active in the Diamond Head Community Church and participated in golf leagues.

She was a member of the Kings Daughters & Sons, Mizpah Circle, and Mt Hawley Country Club, where she also was a league golfer.

Glen Oak Christian Church has always been a very important part of Ann’s life.  She has been active in the Homebuilders Sunday School Class and Christian Women’s’ Fellowship, taught Sunday school, vacation bible school and tutored in the M&M (Mind and Muscle) program.  Ann was honored as a Deaconess Emeritus in 2004. 

A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Glen Oak Christian Church, 1115 E Republic St, Peoria.  Rev. Dr. Randy Williams will officiate.  Visitation will be held at the church Wednesday evening from 4 to 7:00 p.m.  A private family burial will take place at Olio Cemetery, Eureka.

Memorial contributions may be made to Glen Oak Christian Church.
