Obituary of Lois Lucille Betts
Wyoming – Lois Lucille Betts, 94, formerly of Wyoming, died at 1:20 pm Thursday, January 24, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Venice, Florida.
Lois was born on June 27, 1913, at Toulon, IL, the daughter of Grover and Golda Dickerson George. She married Clement A. Betts on November 4, 1933, in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 1985. Also preceding her in death was a son, Ronald W. Betts, a daughter, Elva Bullen, two brothers, Michael George & Howard George; and a half sister, Ruth Kelper.
Surviving is a daughter, Shirley (and Earl) Bland of Venice, Florida, with whom she made her home; a son, Donald (and Marcella) Betts of Des Moines, IA; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Betts of Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren; a half sister Gladys (and Richard) Morris of Pekin, IL; half brother, Richard (and Charliss) McCall of Sun City, AZ; a sister-in-law, Katherine George of Chillicothe, IL; and several nieces & nephews.
Lois was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, and painting, as well as being an avid bingo player. She also enjoyed bowling as long as she was able.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Monsignor Richard Soseman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery, Princeville.
