Obituary of Hazel Gallup

Edelstein – Hazel Gallup, 92, of rural Edelstein, died at 6:40 pm Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at PictureHeritage Manor, Chillicothe.

Hazel was born September 18, 1915, near Alma, IL, to Eli and Evelyn Reese Howard.  On October 29, 1937, she married Dwight J. Gallup in Salem, IL.  Together they lived for 66 years raising a family and farming near Edelstein on the Gallup Homestead Farm and also participating in many community activities.
Dwight died on November 22, 2003.

Survivors include a son, Roger (and Sharon) Gallup of rural Chillicothe; a daughter, Beverly (and Hill) Carlen of Cookeville, TN; three granddaughters; one grandson; and five great-grandchildren.

Hazel was a gentle and loving mother who maintained a beautiful home and was an avid gardener. 

She was an active member of the Edelstein Congregational UCC Church, where services will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, February 8, 2008.  Rev. David Stamerjohn will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until the time of service on Friday.  Burial will take place at 2:30 pm on Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Blue Ridge Cemetery, rural Chillicothe.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Edelstein Congregational UCC Church.
