Obituary of Eloise Graves Princeville – Eloise Graves, 90, a resident of Hillside Village, Peoria, formerly of rural Princeville, died at 6:40 pm Wednesday, July 16, Eloise was born on March 23, 1918, at Atkinson, IL, the daughter of John Franklin and Sarah Eunice Palmer Bliss. She married Leo C. Graves on December 10, 1938, in Princeville, flourishing in 69 years of marriage. Leo survives, along with two daughters, Judith Ann (and Art Mayer) Higgs of Bella Vista, AR, and Janet Sue (and Jack) Morlock of Princeville; two granddaughters, Julie Ann (and John) Edwards of Princeville, and Judith Heather (and Daniel) McGowan of Naperville; one grandson, Richard Heath Higgs of Honolulu, HI; and three great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Ann Hoerr, and Sean & Sarah McGowan. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John Marvin Bliss, Earl S. Bliss, and Palmer Bliss. Eloise attended Princeville schools and was a 1936 graduate of Princeville High School. While in high school she began working in her father’s drug store, Bliss Drugs, until 1942. Eloise and Leo farmed in the Princeville area all their lives. She was an avid flower & vegetable gardener, and she loved to cook for her family, friends, and farm helpers. She was a 74 year member of the Princeville United Methodist Church, where services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 19, 2008. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery. There will be no visitation; however the family will receive friends at a luncheon at the church following the burial. Memorial contributions may be made to either the church or to the Akron-Princeville Ambulance Service New Ambulance Fund. Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
