Obituary of Maurine U. Hale

Williamsfield – Maurine U. Hale, 93, of Williamsfield, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.

Maurine was born April 29, 1914, in Williamsfield, Illinois, the daughter of Lester and Jessie Huber Rice.  She first married James Camp in 1933, and then later she married Robert Hale on December 24, 1955, in Galesburg.  He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Steve (and Carol) Camp of Trivoli; one daughter, Joan Bitner of Monica; one step-son, Bill (and Cindy) Hale of Williamsfield; four step-daughters, Sandy Swank of Galesburg, Bobbie (and Walter) Philbee of Elmore, Sherry (and Jack) Bremer of Oak Run, and Judy (and Ronnie) Rice of Victoria; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seventeen step great-grandchildren; and eleven step great-great-grandchildren.  One granddaughter, three step-grandsons and one brother, Maurice Rice, who died March 8, 2006, preceded her in death.

Maurine was a 1933 graduate of Brimfield High School.  She was a member of Alturas United Methodist Church, Alturas, FL, and Monica United Methodist Church.  After retiring Maurine & Bob lived in Florida for 15 years and when they came back to Illinois to visit in the summer the van would be loaded with things Maurine made during the winter, like quilts, pillows, photo albums, place mats, and throws.  Maurine enjoyed square dancing, sewing, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Monica United Methodist Church.  Revs. Marc Brown and Randy Douglass will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Monica United Methodist Church or Williamsfield United Methodist Church.
