Obituary for Raymond J. Hawley

Edelstein – Raymond J. Hawley, 92, a resident of Heritage Manor, Chillicothe, for the past four years, formerly of rural Edelstein, died at Hawley11:12 pm Thursday, January 3, 2008, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria.

Ray was born on April 19, 1915, near Edelstein, the son of Charles and Sarah Cullen Hawley.  He married Ruth E. Miars on May 18, 1935, in Cambridge, IL.  Ruth preceded him in death on August 27, 1999, in Chillicothe.  Also preceding him in death were four brothers, two sisters, and a grandson, Paul Hawley.

Surviving are two sons, Sherman (and Alyce) Hawley of Morongo Valley, CA, and Ames Hawley of Cincinnati, OH; one daughter, Faith (and Rich) Riggins of rural Edelstein; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ray farmed and trucked grain and water from 1934 until retiring in 1978.

Cremation has been accorded.  Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Princeville Cemetery, Princeville.  There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Manor Activities Fund, in care of Pat Robinson, 1028 Hillcrest Dr, Chillicothe, IL 61523.
