Obituary of John D. Hogsett

Princeville – John D. Hogsett, 75, a Princeville resident for the past 51 years, died at 2:32 pm Friday, May 9, 2008, at St Joseph Mercy Hospital, Hot Springs, AR.

John was born on June 1, 1932, in Atlanta, MO, the son of Omer V. & Ora Collins Hogsett.  He married Mary Lou Copas on April 21, 1955, in Liberty, MO.  She survives, along with five children, Omer Wesley (Gina) Hogsett of East Peoria, IL, Vicki Janette (Jack) Anderson of Thornton, CO, Cheryl Ann (Scott) Archer of Mapleton, IL, and Billie J. Hogsett and Curt Patrick (Kimala) Hogsett, both of Princeville; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

He served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Princeville American Legion Post 248.  He worked for Caterpillar for almost 37 years, retiring from the Mossville plant in April 1992.  He was a proud member of UAW 974 for almost 53 years.  His life centered around his family and his church, Princeville Baptist Church, in which he was very active.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday, May 16, 2008, at Princeville Baptist Church.  Pastor Lee Taylor will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the church.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church or to the American Heart Association.
