Obituary of Bertha "Bertie" Kieser Edelstein – Bertha “Bertie” Kieser, 85, a resident of Apostolic Christian Skylines, Inc, formerly of Edelstein and Peoria, died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2008, at Apostolic Christian Skylines. Bertie was born January 17, 1923, in West Bend, IA, the daughter of George and Emma Traub Sauder. She married Ludwig Kieser on December 17, 1950, in West Bend. Ludwig died on July 24, 1970, in Peoria. Also preceding her in death is a grandson, Tony Weber, who died in 2002, and four brothers. Surviving is a daughter, Janet (and Mike) Weber of Peoria; three grandsons, Jeff, Jake (and Jennifer), and Chad Weber; one granddaughter, Angela (and Seth) Braker; four sisters, Mildred Siepka of Hoffman Estates, IL, Mary Ann Baer of Eureka, IL, Dorothy Zaugg of West Bend, IA, and Joyce (and Lloyd) Nohl of McAllen, TX; and one brother, Virgil (and Mildred) Sauder of Morris, MN. Bertie and Ludwig farmed near Edelstein for many years. After Ludwig’s death, Bertie continued to supervise the farm operation. She also did housework for several area families, as well as volunteered at Proctor Hospital. She was a member of the Princeville Apostolic Christian Church, where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2008. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
