Obituary of A. Catherine Miller

Brimfield – A. Catherine Miller, 91, of Brimfield, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at her home.

Catherine was born October 7, 1917, in Brimfield,  to Harry and Dora Davis Maher.  She married Murray Miller on September 24, 1938, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Parsonage in Brimfield.  Murray survives.

Also surviving are her children, Jerry (and Carol) Miller of Bloomington,  Tom (Barbara-deceased) Miller of Brimfield, Richard (and Peg) Miller of Williamsfield, Robert Miller of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Mary Miller of Peoria, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, her son, Fred, and one great-grandchild, Ernest.

Catherine graduated from Brown’s Business College in Peoria and was employed by Western Adjustment Company in Peoria.  She also assisted her husband Murray with his business, Miller’s Radio & TV.  She was a newspaper correspondent for both the Peoria Journal Star and the Brimfield News which later became the Princeville Telephone.

Catherine was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brimfield, and it’s Altar & Rosary Society.  Through the church she shared her love of music as the church organist for many years.  She also was a member of the Brimfield American Legion Post 452 Auxillary.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 314 W. Clay Street, Brimfield.  Father John Verrier will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brimfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or B.Y.E.
