Obituary of Evelyn Jean Sears Down Miller

Peoria – Evelyn Jean Sears Down Miller, 85, of Peoria, died at 9:08 am Sunday, June 15, 2008, at the Proctor Hospital Emergency Department.

Evelyn was born on October 31, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Clara Hill Sears of Princeville.  She was first married to Samuel Roy Down on March 28, 1946.  He died December 25, 1974, in Peoria.  On April 18, 1987, she married Lyle B. Miller in Princeville.  Lyle survives, along with two daughters, Brenda (and Bill) Down Dame of Columbia, IL, and Rhonda (and Mike) Down Trent of Cleveland, TN;  a step-daughter, Marla (and Ken) Miller Eberle of Morton, IL, a step-son, Gary (and Lisa) Miller of Brownsburg, IN; two granddaughters, Karrie Dame Miller of Columbia, IL, and Kim (and Steve) Dame Roedl of Waterloo, IL; two grandsons, Kyle & Kollin Trent of Cleveland, TN; one step-granddaughter, Tanja (and Paul) Miller Broshey of Los Angeles, CA; two step-grandsons, Ryan and Aaron Eberle; one great-grandson, Samuel Roedl; two step-great grandsons, Josef & Jeremiah Broshey; and a sister, Berniece (and Ralph) Sears Heinz of Belleville, IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donald Sears of Princeville, and her step-grandson, J. B. Miller of Brownsburg, IN.

She was a member of the Wyoming American Legion Auxiliary, Wyoming, IL, and Grace Presbyterian Church, Peoria.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Grace Presbyterian Church.  Rev. Robert Donaldson will officiate.  Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
