Obituary of Evelyn L. Paul Dunlap – Evelyn L. Paul of Dunlap, IL, joined her Lord at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008. She did so at her home, after a long She was born on October 24, 1925, at Princeville, IL, to Louis John and Cora Rose Begner Wieland. She married Donald “Tug” Paul on August 31, 1947. She was the mother of two sons, Brian Paul, born February 10, 1951, and Dr. Roger Paul, born January 25, 1954. She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Paul, her parents and twin granddaughters, Shawna and Shelley. Evelyn is survived by her husband, her son, Dr. Roger Paul, Debbie, and family of Peoria, two sisters, Gladys Morlock of Hollywood, FL, and Wilma (and Don) Baughman of Princeville, IL. Also surviving is her brother, Norman (and Evie) Wieland of Visalia, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her passing culminates a lifetime of many enjoyments. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, an avid golfer, who could boast of five club championships at Arrowhead Country Club, as well as four holes-in-ones in various places in the U.S. She was a faithful fan of Bradley University Basketball and also of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. She also enjoyed planning and taking vacations. For many years she and her husband traveled the U.S., took cruises and traveled abroad. On several occasions her son and his family joined them. She was secretary of the Edelstein Grade School for eleven years, and an original member of the Peoria Area Civic Chorale. Throughout her life she held various church offices and participated in many church activities including serving as Deacon, teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. She was proud of her accomplishments and aware of her many blessings. Her love for her husband, her son Roger and wife Debbie and her granddaughters, Monica, Lauren, and Corrine was overflowing and evident in her actions and conversations. She hoped always to the best wife, best mother and especially the best grandmother. Evelyn’s love and pride also extended to The United Presbyterian Church of Peoria, where she was a member. Her wish was that memorials be made to her church, 2400 W. Northmoor Rd., Peoria, IL 61614, or The Illinois Cancer Center, 8940 N. Wood Sage Rd., Peoria, IL, 61615. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at her church. Services will then be 10:30 a.m. at the church on Thursday, November 20, 2008, with Rev. Dr. Ken Shedenhelm officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria. Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.
