Obituary of William A. "Bill" Snyder

Dunlap – William A. “Bill” Snyder, 57, of rural Dunlap, died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in the emergency room at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Bill was born October 1, 1950, in Peoria, the son of Robert A. and Mary F. Dimond Snyder.  He married Cynthia Miller on March 29, 1986, in Peoria.  She survives.

Also surviving is his mother, Mary F. Snyder of rural Dunlap; one step-son, Greg Meister of rural Dunlap; one brother, Donald Charles (and Diane) Snyder of Mackinaw; three sisters, E. Marlene Snyder and Marikay L. (and William) Ross both of Dunlap, and Brenda M. (and Charles) Matthews of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.  His father, one brother, Randy Snyder, one infant daughter, Meredith Snyder, one uncle, Arlie Snyder, and one nephew, Sean Miller preceded him in death.

Bill was Radnor Township Road Commissioner for 16 years. He also worked at Snyder’s Farm Service with his father for over 30 years. He last was working at Caterpillar as a supervisor at the Peoria Proving Grounds.  He was a member of the National Rifle Association and St. Jude Catholic Church, Dunlap.

Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008, at St. Jude Catholic Church.  Rev. Father Tony Lee will officiate.  Visitation will be Sunday, from 5 to 7:00 pm at St. Jude Catholic Church, with prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Clement’s Cemetery, Dunlap.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to his church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
