Obituary of LeRoy H. Streitmatter

Edelstein- LeRoy H. Streitmatter, 90, formerly of Edelstein, IL, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria, IL.

LeRoy was born on April 4, 1918, in Edelstein, IL, to Phillip and Sallie Frey Streitmatter. He married Esther M. Ehnle on June 1, 1947, in Peoria County. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Emmy (and Jack) Stuckel of Farmington, IL, and Beverly Drinnin (and Lloyd Miller) of DesMoines, IA; two sons, Rex Streitmatter of Chillicothe, IL, and Tex (and Mary) Streitmatter of El Paso, TX; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alice Mellott, one brother, Orville “Sonny” Streitmatter and an infant brother.

LeRoy farmed most of his life in the Bradford/Edelstein areas. He was a member of the Bradford Apostolic Christian Church. He loved his church and the church family. LeRoy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed collecting antiques, his tractors, and fishing in Minnesota with his family and friends. LeRoy was a friend to everyone, generous, and helpful.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at the Apostolic Christian Church, Bradford. Ministers of the church will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, IL. An additional visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Streitmatter Cemetery in rural Princeville, IL.

 Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Skyline Salem Unit.
