Obituary of Charles "Cliff" Theobald Princeville – Charles “Cliff” Theobald, 78, of Princeville, died at 6:00 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at Proctor Hospital, Peoria. Cliff was born on September 23, 1929, in Monica, the son of Joseph and Barbara Scheeley Theobald. He married Jean Ann Fairfield on April 28, 1956, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Princeville. Jean Ann survives, along with a son, Joe Theobald of Princeville; two daughters, Crystal (and Don) Tanney of Lexington, IL, and Melody Hampton of Wichita, KS; a sister, Lucille (and Julius) Lauber of Princeville; and three grandsons, Matt (and Julia) Tanney of Zionsville, IN, Mitch Tanney of Davenport, IA, and Alex Tanney of Lexington, IL. He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. Cliff served in the U.S. Air Force. He then worked for Long Rock Quarry in Princeville for several years, then later owned and operated the Amoco Gas Station in Princeville for 16 years before retiring. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.
