Obituary of Charles J. "Charlie" Austin

Peoria – Charles J. “Charlie” Austin, 82, a resident of Prairieview Care Center, Lewistown, formerly of Peoria, died at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2009, at the center.

Charles was born March 29, 1926, in Napoleonville, LA, the son of Charles Raymond & Marie Marquette Austin, he married Mary “Tiny” Morris in October, 1984, in Peoria.  She preceded him in death on March 17, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Hammer and Jeanie (and Charlie) Favret, both of Metairie, LA; four grandchildren, including Melissa (and Jason) Goldring of Lewistown, IL, and Jeffrey (and Justine) Morris of Schiller Park, IL; and several great-grandchildren, including Mackenzie & Matthew Goldring of Lewistown.

Charlie was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of AMVETS, Peoria.  He was a truck driver for Insulation Dealers, Peoria, for many years before retiring.  He was a former member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Friday, January 23, 2009, at Resurrection Mausoleum.  Rev. Glen Edenburn will officiate and military honors will be accorded.  Visitation will be a half hour prior to the service.  Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
