Obituary of Donald Cutler Bayer Moline - Donald Cutler Bayer, 79, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday morning, April 3, 2009, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa. A public graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, at the Meadowlawn Cemetery in Manito, IL at 11 a.m. A celebration of his life and luncheon will be held at Willett’s Winery in Manito immediately following the service until 2 p.m. He was born July 5, 1929, in Stark, IL, to Paul and Nadine (Cutler) Bayer. He married Phyllis House on January 21, 1951, in Osceola, Illinois. Mr. Bayer was a sales representative for Central Petroleum Company for 52 years, including Illinois State sales manager for over two decades. He was an avid Cubs and horse racing fan and enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports. He resided in Manito Illinois with his wife for over 40 years before moving to Moline in 1998. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis, Moline; son, Larry (Charla) Bayer, Moline; daughter Paula Bayer, Colorado Springs, CO; grandson Christopher (Lindsay) Bayer, Moline; and grandson Paul Bayer, Moline. He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Guy Bayer, his brother John Bayer, and his sister Dorothy Day. The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Manito – Forest City Rotary Club (Little League Fund). Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.
