Obituary of Everett Yale "Bailey" Camp

Monica – Everett Yale “Bailey” Camp, 86, of Monica, died at 4:42 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at his residence.

Bailey was born July 14, 1922, in Monica, the son of William Everett and Hildred Grace McMahan Camp.  He married Leatha I. Libby on May 26, 1945, in Elmore.  She survives, along with two daughters, Fonda (and John) Maddox of Monica, and Cindy (and Bill) Hale of Williamsfield; five grandchildren, Brian (and Donna) Maddox of Concordia, MO, Brad (and Terri Greathouse) Maddox of Monica, Travis Hale of Williamsfield, Troy (and Becky) Hale of Knoxville, IL, and Todd (and Marsha) Hale of Montgomery, TX; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.  His parents and one daughter, Terri Anne Camp, preceded him in death.

He was a World War II Marine Corps Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater.  He served six months in New Zealand, and a total of 27 months in Guam and Guadalcanal.   He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Hiram Walker in Peoria for 40 years, retiring in 1981.  

Bailey was a 60 year member of the Princeville Lodge #360, AF&AM, and a Boy Scout Leader in Monica.  He enjoyed hunting & fishing, as well as mushroom hunting.  Bailey was a Die-Hard Chicago Cubs Fan, and was especially proud of his commemorative brick in his name in front of the Ernie Banks statue at Wrigley Field.  He was a 59 year member of the Monica United Methodist Church, where he served as past-trustee & Sunday School Superintendent.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Monica United Methodist Church.  Rev. Marc Brown & Rev. Randy Douglass will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery, with military graveside rites accorded.

Memorial contributions may be made to Monica United Methodist Church or to the Methodist Home Health Services.
