Obituary of Mardella R. "Betty" Davis

Peoria – Mardella R. “Betty” Davis, 81, of Peoria, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at Proctor Hospital.

Betty was born February 1, 1928, in Peoria, the daughter of Bub and Dora Cox Starnes.  She married James H. Davis on January 17, 1948, in Peoria.  He died July 11, 1998, in Peoria.  Also preceding her in death was one brother, Bobby Starnes, and two sisters, Gladys Burson & Shirley Hanshaw.

Surviving are five sons, James M. (Lana) Davis of Dunlap, Danny B. Davis of Alta, Tommy L. (Carol L.) Davis of Princeville, Bobby L. (Nancy) Davis of Peoria, and Randy G. (Kathryn) Davis of Peoria; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Georgia Bouton of Atlanta, GA.

Betty was manager of Pepe’ Taco in Peoria for 20 years until retiring.  She was a member of Dunlap American Legion Post 1078 Auxillary.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.  Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Mt. Hawley Cemetery, Peoria.
