Obituary of Henry A. “Bub” DeBord

Princeville – Henry A. “Bub” DeBord, 85, of Princeville, died at 6:54 a.m. Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.

Henry was born on February 21, 1924, in Monica, the son of Ray E. & Mary E. Camp DeBord.  He married Maxine Friend on March 24, 1953, in Chillicothe.  Maxine survives, along with one brother, Jim (and Joan) DeBord of rural Princeville; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Amy Knowles & Louise Ingle.

He was U.S. Army veteran serving in the WWII Pacific Theatre, attached to the 32nd Red Arrow Infantry Division.  He was awarded the Purple Heart. 

Henry was an operator for the Peoria County Highway Department out of the North Station for many years until retiring.

He was a member of the Princeville VFW Gold Star Post 1255, and was a member of both the Monica United Methodist Church and the Princeville United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home.  Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Princeville Cemetery with Military Honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to the Monica United Methodist Church.
