Obituary of B. Lucille Diver

Dunlap – B. Lucille Diver, 82, of Dunlap, died at 11:40 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2009, at Heritage Manor, Chillicothe, where she had been a patient since August 19, 2008.

She was born March 30, 1926, at North Hampton, IL, the daughter of Frank & Bertha Wheeler Stewart.  She married Clarence C. Diver on July 14, 1945, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Glasford.  Clarence died February 25, 2007, in Peoria.  Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Charles Stewart & Robert Stewart, one sister, Velma Brackett, nine nephews and one niece.

Surviving is a son, Donald (and Pam) Diver of Dunlap; one daughter, Dolores (and Bill) Symonds) of Brimfield; five grandchildren, Bryan (and Caelyn) Diver, Mark (and Tara) Diver, Becky (and Aven) Friday, Brenda (and Patrick) Kell, and Doreen (and Curtis) Smith; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathryn (and Edwin) Metzger of Dunlap.

For many years Lucille worked at the Hub Ballroom in Edelstein setting up scheduled receptions and working the coat check.  The owner, Jim Potter, always jokingly introduced Lucille has his “oldest employee”.  She will always be remembered my family and friends as the first one to arrive at the hospital if anyone she knew was sick or injured.

Lucille was a member of the Edelstein Congregational UCC Church, where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009.  Rev. David Stamerjohn will officiate.  The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 5:30.  Cremation has been accorded and a private burial of ashes will take place in Princeville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church.

Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.
