Obituary of Irene Louise Grunert

Princeville – Irene Louise Grunert, 80, of Princeville, died at 3:35 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. 

Irene was born January 3, 1929, In Dunlap, the daughter of Linn & Delores Hall Arbogast.  She married Frederick Duane Grunert on February 13, 1949, in Princeville, at the First Presbyterian Church.  Fred died February 10, 2007.  Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Catherine Kay Bunnell in 1996; two brothers, Gary & Linn Arbogast; and five sisters, Phyllis Baer, Jean Adani, Alice Streitmatter, Donna Jones, & Diane Arbogast.

 Surviving is a son, Thomas Linn Grunert of Chickasha, OK; three grandchildren, Amy (and William) McGlothlin &Tony Bunnell of Lincoln, NE, and Holly Bunnell of Florhom Park, NJ; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Brenda Arbogast of Dunlap, and Dorothy Ann Pierceal of Paoli, KS; and a brother-in-law, Roy Baer, of Peoria.

Irene & Fred farmed in Long Island, Kansas, for over 50 years before moving back to Princeville in 2003.  She was a member of the Princeville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Long Island United Methodist Church in Nebraska.

Cremation has been accorded.  There is no local visitation or service.  Graveside services will be held in Alma, NE at a later date.

 Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
