Obituary of Florence I. Maher

Brimfield – Florence I. Maher, 98, of Brimfield, died at 1:24 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Farmington Country Manor.

Florence was born June 24, 1911, in Peoria County to Milton and Blanch Miller White.  She married Patrick W. Maher on July 3, 1929, in Peoria.  He preceded her in death on April 20, 1978.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Anne Reinhart of Brimfield, with whom she made her home; one son, Thomas F. (Rosa Lee) Maher of Bartonville; 9 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Dale Maher, one infant son Patrick Maher, two brothers, and three sisters.

She was a hardworking farm wife and mother, always busy cooking and gardening.  After moving to Brimfield in 1967, she would go for long walks with her niece.  She also loved to read.  She was a member of the Union Church in Brimfield.

Services will be at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2009.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Brimfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Lights Hospice in Galesburg or the Brimfield Public Library in her memory.
