Obituary of Edith M. Martin

Princeville – Edith M. Martin, 91, a resident of Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria, formerly of Princeville, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, at Apostolic Christian Skylines.

Edith was born April 8, 1918, in Speer, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel and Mary S. Kuntz Streitmatter.  She married Eli B. Martin on January 21, 1940.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 1949, in Princeville.  Also preceding her in death was a son, Richard L. Martin, and two brothers, Russell & LaVern Streitmatter.

Surviving is one son, Greg G. (Sandra) Martin of Chillicothe; two sisters, Gladys (George) Neal of Speer, and Bernadine Cambron of Peoria; two grandchildren, Eric (Lanette) Martin of Watertown, WI, Kassandra (John) Verhusen of Vail, CO; and one great-grandson, Brady E. Martin.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Hemmer Feed & Farm Service, Speer for 20 years.  She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and was active in its quilting group and choir. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Apostolic Christian Church.  Ministers of the church will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, and also from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
