Obituary of Verna J. Rickey

Dunlap – Verna J. Rickey, 71, of Dunlap, died at 3:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, where she had been a patient since February 9th.

Verna was born on April 24, 1937, in East Peoria, the daughter of Albert & Emma Loescher Wys.  She married Ivan E. Rickey on October 26, 1955, in Princeville.  He survives, along with two sons, Dennis (and Debbie) Rickey of Dunlap, Jim (and Louise) Rickey of Peoria; one daughter, Linda (and Clint) Hannah of Varna; six grandchildren, Cole Rickey, Erin & Caitlin Rickey, and Blair, Grant (and Courtney), & Stacey Hannah; and two sisters, Mary Abraham of Alta, and Jeanette (and Arthur) McIntyre of Chillicothe.  Her parents and one brother, Albert Wys, Jr. preceded her in death.

Verna was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church, Dunlap, where funeral services will be 11:30 Tuesday, February 17, 2009.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service on Tuesday at the church.  Rev. Mary Kathryn Pearce will officiate.  Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Dunlap.
