Obituary of Bonnie L. "Red" Smith Brimfield - Bonnie L. "Red" Smith, 68, formerly of Princeville, died at 5:56 a.m. Sunday, November 8, 2009 at her residence. Bonnie was born February 24, 1941 in Kewanee, the daughter of Dean and Marcella (Dickens) Currier and the step-daughter of K. Howard Murray. She married Marrion J. "Smitty" Smith October 20, 1962 in Princeville. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1996. Surviving are one son, John P. (Karen) Smith of Speer, one daughter, Lori A. (Randall) Retherford of Brimfield; four grandchildren, Amanda and Blake Retherford, Dalton and Darian Smith; two brothers, Joseph and Richard Murray both of Kewanee; three sisters, Leila Swanson of Iowa, Sheila Langdon of Indiana, and Rita Tabor of Chillicothe. Her parents, step-father K. Howard Murray, one brother, James Murray and one sister, Sandra Lange preceded her in death. Bonnie worked for Stewart Hybrids of Princeville for 30 years. Bonnie was most proud of the State Corn Husking Championship she won in Fairview, IL in 1984. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services.
