Obituary of George E. Snyder Princeville – George E. Snyder, 76, of Peoria, formerly of Princeville, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009, at George was born September 5, 1933, in La Prairie Township, Marshall County, Illinois, the son of Floyd and Mabel Kellogg Snyder. He married Doris M. Kraft on February 12, 1955, in Princeville. She survives. Also surviving are five sons, Michael (and Deb) of Edelstein, Steven (and Deb) of Princeville, William (and Beatrix) of New York, NY, Robert of Princeville, and Mark (and Sonya) of Pensacola, FL; 8 grandchildren; and one sister, Nona (and Lysle) Smith of Alabama. His parents, and one infant son, Donald Paul Snyder preceded him in death. George served 20 years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He first worked for the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector; later was custodian at Princeville Grade School, then founded Snyder’s Café and Meat Market, until retiring in 1995. He was of the Catholic faith. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Princeville. Father Patrick Riordan will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, with recitation of the Rosary at 8. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery, Princeville, with military rites accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service.
