Obituary of Eileen Brandenburg

Princeville – Eileen Brandenburg, 75, of Princeville, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at her residence.

Eileen was born August 23, 1934, in Princeville, the daughter of Thelma Zimmerman Freeland, and was raised by her grandparents, Frank & Florence Sloan. She married Earl W. Brandenburg on October 25, 1952, in Princeville.  He preceded her in death on August 25, 1997, near Princeville.  Also preceding her in death was her mother and her grandparents.

Surviving is one son, Denny (Donna) Brandenburg of Princeville; two daughters, Cindy (Gary) Byrne of Barrington, IL,   and Diane Endress of Princeville; two brothers, Jim (Karen) Jennings of Pekin, and Bill (Sue) Jennings of High Springs, FL; one sister, Sue Hunt of Peoria; six grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was a 1952 graduate of Princeville High School.  Eileen was a member of the Princeville Garden Club and enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.  For the past 15 years she drove a school bus for the Princeville School District, last working Friday, March 26th.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Eileen was dearly loved by her family, friends, and students, whose young lives she touched as she drove her bus every school day.

Eileen was an active member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society.

Funeral Mass for Eileen Brandenburg will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.  Rev. Father Patrick Riordan will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, with recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her St. Mary of the Woods Building Fund or to the Akron-Princeville Ambulance Service.
