Obituary of Lanora I. Delbridge

Princeville – Lanora I. Delbridge, 82, of Princeville, died at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Heritage Manor, Chillicothe.

Lanora was born January 30, 1928, in Chillicothe, the daughter of Mark and Irene Thorton Griswold.  She married William M. Delbridge on August 28, 1947, in Princeville.  He died April 21, 2002, in Peoria.

Surviving are one son, David Delbridge; one grandson, Bryce Delbridge; niece, Cynthia (and John) LeMasters of Princeville; several nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Jo Griswold of Haysville, KS; and a very special friend, Jo McNeeley and a host of close friends.  Her parents, four brothers, Robert, Jack, JD, and LeRoy Griswold, and two sisters, Patsey Mrazek & Mayburn Allen, preceded her in death.

She worked at L.R. Nelson and last she was a cook at Princeville High School, retiring in 1995.  Lanora enjoyed reminiscing about all the kids she fed throughout her career as the head cook.  She couldn’t even go to her family doctor without commenting about what a good eater he was!  She was a member of Princeville VFW Ladies Auxillary and the Princeville United Methodist Church.  Lanora was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues, she also was a charter member of the Chillicothe Women’s Bowling League.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.  Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral service.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service.
