Obituary of Harvey Glen Dillard

Princeville – Harvey Glen Dillard, 78, of Princeville, died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at his residence.

Glen was born February 21, 1932, in Joshua, Texas, the son of Harvey Russell and Mary Mae Luton Dillard.  He married Mary Lorene Jarman of Haskell, TX, on March 10, 1955, in Dallas, TX.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Damon Lee (and Missy) Dillard of Old Appleton, MO, and Darrell Glen (and Michele) Dillard of Denton, TX; 4 grandchildren, Samantha, Trevor, Kaitlyn, and Alexis; one sister, Rozemary (and Joe) Fournier of Everett, WA; and several nieces and nephews.  His parents preceded him in death.

Glen was a United States Navy Veteran during the Korean Conflict, serving in the South Pacific from 1949 to 1953.  He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas and worked as a Senior Project Engineer at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 33 years, retiring in 1995.  Prior to that he was a Field Representative for Caterpillar. He enjoyed fabricating, metal work, and welding.  He held 2 U.S. Patents for Caterpillar Engine Fuel Systems.

He was a dedicated member of the Conservative Party.  He attended the First Presbyterian Church, Princeville.  Glen also attended the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Joshua, TX, where he was born and raised.  He loved Southern Gospel and Classical Music.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church, Princeville.  Pastor Steve Hammond will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, Princeville.  Burial will be in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX, at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Happy Hill Farm, 3846 N. Highway 144, Granbury, TX, 76048-7811.  Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.
