Obituary of Elaine M. Hancher

Speer – Elaine M. Hancher, 84, of rural Speer, died at 10:26 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2010, at her residence.

Elaine was born July 12, 1926, in Granville, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Ethel Nielsen Lundberg.  She married Bernard F. Hancher on September 2, 1951, in McNabb, IL.  He died July 26, 2001, in rural Speer.

Surviving are four children, David (Kim) Hancher of Wyoming, Carla Hancher of rural Speer, Karen Stewart of Mira Loma, CA, and Steven (Sue) Hancher of Sarasota, FL; 7 grandchildren, Nicholas & Dalton Hancher , Aaron Stewart, Kristina Koenig, Candice Stewart, and John & Christie Hancher; and two sisters, Mary (Bill) Kemnitz of Varna, and Rose (Joe) Norman of Butler, PA.  Her parents, three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Elaine taught English & History at Lacon before her marriage. 

Elaine also was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Chillicothe, where funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010.  Rev. Steven Mall will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral at the church.  Cremation will follow services and burial of ashes will be at later date in Lawn Ridge Cemetery, rural Speer.

Memorial donations may be made to the family to help cover final expenses.
