Obituary of Richard C. Ivey
Richard was born August 21, 1926, the son of Howard and Margary Sawyer Ivey. He married Marianna Chambers on June 4, 1947 in Kickapoo. She survives. His parents, three brothers, Bernard, Larry, and Tom preceded him in death. Surviving are six children, Peggy (William) Shane of Princeville, Betty (Joseph) Heinz of Edwards, Sally (Ronald) Eller of Chillicothe, Patty (Brent) Rosenbaum of Edwards, Richard “Rick” (Kim) Ivey of Peoria, and Tammy (Matt) Ivey of Peoria. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Richard worked for V Jobst’s for 12 years and C Iber for 10 years. While working construction he also farmed all of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the Battle Ship Wisconsin, and the USS Revenge. He was a lifetime member of the Dunlap American Legion Post#1078, and the Kickapoo Sportsman Club. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo. Richard was a loving, caring husband, father and friend. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, golf and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday March 16, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo. Father Joseph Dondanville will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the Parrish Hall. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo. Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home in Princeville is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
