Judith A. JanssenPrinceville – Judith Ann Sparks Thomas Janssen, 65, of Princeville, died at 6:07 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Judie was born September 14, 1944, in Peoria, the daughter of William & Shirley England Sparks.  She married William S. Janssen on April 3, 1970, in Peoria.  He survives, along with three sons, Jerry (Teri) Thomas of Metamora, Rick (Shelly Parrott) Thomas of Norwood, and Steve (Stephanie) Janssen of Princeville; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Meagan, Ricki Lynn, & Jessie Thomas, Rachel & Sara Thomas, and Mitchell & Justin Janssen; four great grandchildren; seven siblings, Becky (Jim) Trockur of Cuba, Barbara (late Paul) Berry of Peoria, Bill (late Diane) Sparks of Rome, Kathy (Tom) Detra of Dunlap, Carol (Bob) Patterson of Edelstein, Ronnie (Susan) Sparks of Dunlap, and Teresa Kellem of Mossville. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gary in 1972 & Kenny in 2005.

She was employed at Lick Creek Golf Course from 1991 until she retired in 2008 as the clubhouse manager.  She was an avid fisherwoman who would take every opportunity to get a pole in the water.  She loved auto racing, both NASCAR, where she watched her favorite driver, Jimmy Johnson win many races, and local dirt track racing where she spent many nights watching her two brothers, Kenny & Bill competing at the Peoria Speedway.  She also had a love for football; from the Princeville JFL to the Princeville High School team, she always gave her love and support.  She also had a special interest in the Metamora football the past few seasons.

She was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend.  She will be deeply missed and loved always.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home.  Rev. Roger Kaeb will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.
