Obituary of Dorothy M. Maher
Toulon – Dorothy M. Maher, 89, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, where she was a resident.
Dorothy was born December 23, 1920, in Monica, the daughter of Walter and Della Starr Neel. She married Charles H. Maher on October 3, 1940, in Iowa. He died August 17, 1997, in Peoria. Also preceding her in death is one daughter, Sandra K. McIntosh.
Surviving are her children, Judy (Raymond) Vonderahe of Lincoln, Charles W. (Louise) Maher of Peoria, Sharon Braten of Oak Hill, Tom (Melony) Maher of Pekin, Brenda (Jeff) Potter of Princeville, Dan (Kim) Maher of Roanoke, and Vicky (Steve) Negley of Galva; one brother, Walter “Swede” (Mary) Neel of New Lenox, IL; three sisters, Beatrice Clark of Chicago, Florence Smith of Las Vegas, NV, and Lorraine Powers of Laguna Hills, CA; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Pastor Mike Clark will officiate. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elmwood.
