Obituary of William G. Maibach, CLU

Peoria – William G. Maibach, CLU, 90, of Peoria, died at Christian Buehler Memorial Home at 1:00 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010.

Born February 14, 1920, in Bay City, Michigan, the son of William L. and Minnie Rapp Maibach, he first married Juanita Blossom in 1938 in Peoria. She died in 1999, in Peoria. He then married Madeline Turner Ulrich Michael on December 7, 2000, in Peoria.

She survives, along with 2 sons, William O. (and Pam) Maibach of Morton, IL, and Thomas W. (and Janet) Maibach of Orlando, FL; 4 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and 1 daughter, Ann A. Sikora in 2000.

A 1938 graduate of Peoria High School, he served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre on the US St. Louis. He later worked as a clerk, first at Piggly Wiggly, then at Ben Swartz Market; then was an installer, and then salesman, with Illinois Valley Awning & Tent. Later, he was a deliveryman for Rozell’s Dairy. For the past 54 years, Bill was a representative with Connecticut Mutual/Mass Mutual.

He was a member of Peoria Life Underwriters, Peoria CLU Chapter, Peoria Jaycees, a former member of Arcadia Avenue Presbyterian Church, and a current member of Glen Oak Christian Church.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Glen Oak Christian Church, 1115 E. Republic Ave. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service. Private burial of ashes will take place in Dickison Cemetery, rural Dunlap, at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Glen Oak Christian Church.
