Obituary of Harold L. Rickey

Princeville – Harold L. Rickey, a long-time resident of Princeville, died at 5:25 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since December 2004.

Born July 19, 1914, in LaPrairie Township, Marshall County, Illinois, the son of George and Bessie Hastings Rickey, he married Evelyn H. Frey on November 27, 1934, in Peoria.  She preceded him in death on July 1, 2001, in Peoria.  Also preceding him in death were two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, Joe (and Charlene) Rickey of Peoria, and Donald E. (and Patricia) Rickey of Woodland Park, CO; two daughters, Janet (and Mike) Tate of Gladwin, MI, and Lorraine (and Louis) Sniff of Olathe, KS; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanne (and John) Lopeman, of Henry, IL.

He farmed near Sparland until 1950.  He then entered into insurance sales from 1950 until 1984, when he became a Real Estate Broker, retiring in 1999.  He was a member of Princeville Lodge #360, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Temple, Shrine, and Peoria County Farm Bureau.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010.  Pastor Troy Agema will officiate.  Prior to the service, a Masonic Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Visitation will then follow until the time of funeral service in the sanctuary.  Burial will be in LaPrairie Cemetery.
