Obituary of Helen E. Schick

Princeville – Helen E. Schick, 87, a resident of Apostolic Christian Skylines, a long-time Princeville resident, died at 6:47 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.

Helen was born July 15, 1922, Kickapoo Township, Peoria County, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Edna M. Hoffman Hauk.  She married Herbert R. Schick on November 25, 1951, in Peoria.  He died December 24, 1990, in Peoria.

Surviving are two daughters, Hilda (and Phil) Carper of Seymour, IL, and Lois Hoffman of Stanford, IL; one son, Stan (and Margie) Schick of Edelstein, IL; 7 grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene Thompson of Elmwood, IL, and Leila Beetler of Brimfield, IL; two brothers, Howard Hauk of Deming, NM, and Bill Hauk of Elmwood, IL; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Cunningham of Chesterfield, MO.  Her parents, one sister, and one brother preceded her in death.

Helen was a graduate of Methodist School of Nursing and served as a cadet nurse during World War II.  She and her husband farmed in the Akron Township area for many years.  She also was an avid reader and will be missed by her children and grandchildren.

Helen was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Princeville, where funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010.  Ministers of the Church will officiate.  Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.  Further visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church.  Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Princeville.
