Dunlap – Eldon W. Stahl, 83, of Dunlap, died at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at his residence.
Eldon was born September 12, 1927, in rural Edelstein, the son of Leonard and Martha Sammet Stahl. He married Irene L. Rocke on February 20, 1949, Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Greg Stahl of Dunlap; three daughters, Lynette (the late Tom) Carmichael of Rochelle, Lisa Stahl of Dunlap, and Linda (Jerry) Knobloch of El Paso; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandsons; and two brothers, Lloyd (Betty) Stahl of Dunlap, and Stanley “Pete” (the late Mary) Stahl of Peoria. His parents, one brother, Cleo Stahl, and one infant sister, Sylvia and one infant daughter, Virginia preceded him in death.
Eldon was a lifelong farmer in the Dunlap area and worked for WABCO for several years. He also served on the Medina Township board for eight years, and then became Medina Township Road Commissioner for 30 years, retiring in 2007.
He was a trustee for Dunlap Fire & Rescue for 49 years and a member of the Alta Lodge #748 AF&AM; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; and Mohammed Temple, Shrine.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Walt Herrmann will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, with a Masonic service to follow. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
