Obituary of Richard L. Stone
Princeville – Richard L. Stone, 68, of Princeville, died at 6:34 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010, at his residence.
Richard was born November 15, 1941, in Milo Township, Bureau County, Illinois, the son of Francis and Kathryn Lawson Stone. He married Lynda F. Huffman Telander on April 15, 1995, at the Jubilee College Chapel. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Jason Schneblin of Rock Island, IL, two step-sons, Andy (Jessica) Telander of Belvidere, IL, and Neil (Tina) Telander of North Liberty, IA; one step-daughter, Susan (Jason) Evans of Peoria, IL; 5 step-grandsons, Andrew Schneblin, Jacob Schneblin, Kelby Telander, Carson Telander, and Kallen Evans; one brother, Donald (Linda) Stone of Bradford, IL; two nieces, Marilyn (Tom) Wilson of Bradford, IL, and Elizabeth (Brent) Skinner of Diamond, MO; and two nephews, Terry (Terri) Stone of Carthage, MO, and Robert (Francie) Stone of Webb City, MO. His parents and one infant sister, Mary Linda preceded him in death.
Richard was a graduate of Bradford High School, Eureka College, Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, and Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY. Richard was an ordained minister for 40 years for the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Michigan, Minnesota, and South Central Illinois. He also did chaplaincy work for the Vandalia Prison and Police, and Vanderbilt University Hospital in Tennessee. Richard was owner & operator of Stone Trucking for several years, retiring in 2008. After retirement he became over-the-road trucker. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Peoria.
Richard was very active in many men’s organizations in various communities where he has lived. He also was a pilot and enjoyed motorcycles. Richard was a prolific storyteller.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Princeville United Methodist Church. Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Burial will be in Boyd’s Grove Cemetery, rural Bradford.
