Obituary of Lilah May Windish

Elmwood – Lilah May Windish, 95, of Elmwood, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Farmington Country Manor, where she was a resident.

Lilah was born May 10, 1915, in Warren County, Illinois, the daughter of Jesse and Cora Clay Roffey. She married Glenn D. Windish on June 16, 1937, in Canton. He died October 8, 1979.

Also surviving are one daughter, Karla “Kay” (Bill) Wagner of Elmwood; two sons, James (Patty) Windish of Elmwood, and Paul (Betsy) Windish of Tinley Park; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Lilah graduated from Bradley University and was a teacher in public schools in the Elmwood area. She enjoyed music, reading, and education.

Lilah was a member of P.E.O. Elmwood and the Elmwood United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Rev. Mark Graham will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services at the church. Burial will be in Elmwood Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elmwood United Methodist Church or B.Y.E. Ambulance. Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, is in charge of arrangements.
