Obituary of Orville L. Ziemer
Brimfield – Orville L. Ziemer, 83, died at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Blessing Hospital, Quincy.
He was born on November 30, 1926, in rural Trivoli. He lived in rural Farmington and Elmwood. Orville was the youngest of three children to Elsie Zessin and Henry Ziemer. He married Phyllis I. Terry on May 24, 1953.
Surviving are his six children, Alice (Dennis) Maher of Brimfield, Linda (Jim) Legg of Puyallup, WA, Henry Ziemer of Peoria, Mary (Jerry) Barden of West Peoria, Betsy Hudson of Fayetteville, AR, and Vicki (Jeff) Atherton of Brimfield; and seven grandchildren, Eric & Tony Legg, Jennifer, Diana, & George Hudson, and James & Sarah Maher. Also surviving is his brother, Clarence Ziemer of Elmwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, son Carl, and one sister, Hilda.
Orville graduated from Elmwood High School. He served in the Korean War as a Private 1st Class for 15 months in the Army Air Force Reserves. After his marriage he farmed in Brimfield and Yates City for 56 years.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Brimfield, where funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Rev. Michael Liese will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
