Obituary of Duane F. Camp
Princeville – Duane F. Camp, 82, of Princeville, died at 4:57 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at his residence.
Duane was born October 25, 1928, in Princeville, the son of Jess, Sr. and M. Lucile Carman Camp. He married L. Joan Bradbury on August 23, 1953, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death, along with their daughter, Linda, his parents, and brother, Jess Camp, Jr.
Surviving are his children, Greg (Carrie) Camp of Mapleton, Jim Camp of Princeville, and Sue (Rod) Hale of Cameron; four grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Mackenzie, and Jonathan; and one great-grandson, Owen.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a lineman, then later, foreman, for CILCO for 36 years, retiring in 1988. He was a 60 year Life Member of Princeville Lodge #360, AF&AM, serving as Master of the lodge and also as secretary for many years. He was also active in Eastern Star. Duane was a 58 year member of the Princeville American Legion Post 248, Life Member of the Historical Association of Princeville, was active with the Boy Scouts, and was a member of the Princeville United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.
Funeral services for Duane Camp will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Princeville United Methodist Church. Rev. Rex Hendrix will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, with a Masonic Service at 8:00. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.
