Obituary of Kathleen M. Campbell

Peoria – Kathleen M. Campbell, 59, of Peoria, died at 5:56 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home, Peoria.

Kathy was born March 7, 1951, the daughter of Samuel A. and Mildred L. Smith Campbell.

Surviving is her mother, Mildred L. Campbell of Peoria; one brother, Michael (Lori) Campbell of Grants Pass, OR; one niece, Erin Campbell of San Francisco, CA; and one nephew, Samuel Campbell of Redding, CA. Her father preceded her in death in September 2010. She also leaves behind her beloved Chihuahua, SamiJo, and her yellow tabby, Thomas.

She was an Engineering Services Coordinator with Caterpillar for many years before retiring in 2004.

Kathy was active in Cursillo, sang with the ICC Concert Choir and the Morton Civic Chorus, served on the board of the Caterpillar Chorus, sang in the productions and directed the singers for the Yule Like Peoria Holiday Walk-About. She proudly received the ROSCOE Award for outstanding service to the chorus for the 1995 production of The Wizard of OZ. She also worked behind the scenes for Cat Chorus, Cornstock and Peoria Players, in makeup and costume. For the past five years, she has volunteered at Bel-Wood Nursing Home, receiving an award for 1,000 hours served. While volunteering at Bel-Wood, she served as VP of the Family Council Advisory Board. She was a member of Glen Oak Christian Church, where she assisted the choir director, was a member of the bell choir, sang in the Chancel Choir, and was a regular featured soloist.

Funeral services for Kathy will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Glen Oak Christian Church, 1115 E. Republic Ave, Peoria. Rev. Dr. Randy Williams and Rev. Dr. Paul Isom will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Bel-Wood Family Advisory Council.
