Obituary of Robert E. McMillen

Edelstein-Robert E. "Railroad Bob” McMillen, 81, of Edelstein, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe with his family by his side.

Bob was born August 2, 1929, in Wyoming, the son of Robert M. and Nola Stephens McMillen. He married Donna Wiesenhofer, on April 27, 1957. They were married for 20 years. Together they had three daughters.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary (Ernest) Russell of Edelstein, Rebecca (Eric) Petty of Kewanee, and Barbara (Brock) Hardy of Jamestown, OH, 7 grandchildren, Andrea (Troy) Stringer, Erica Russell, Jessica (Brian) Stubsten, Jacob Russell, Petra Petty, Joshua Hardy and Brock Hardy, 4 great-grandchildren, Lillian Stringer, Ivan and Gracie Stubsten and Marley Hardy, and one sister, Margaret Sue Cornell of Kewanee and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, one granddaughter, Makayla Petty, one brother James, and two sisters Mary Peterson and Gladys Koch.

Bob was a United States Korean War Veteran. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 48 years before retiring in 1993. Bob was a lifetime member of the Chillicothe VFW and the Dunlap American Legion. He also was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Dunlap.

Cremation has been accorded and a Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Edelstein Congregational UCC Church. Rev. David Stamerjohn will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be one hour before the service. Burial of ashes will be in Prospect Cemetery, Dunlap.
