Dunlap – Neil R. Olson, 77, of Dunlap, died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center of Peoria.
Neil was born on April 8, 1934, in Hillman, MN, the son of Victor and Fern Allen Olson. He married Patricia Dennis on June 11, 1960, in Galesburg, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carol (Tony) Nacarato of Peoria, and Penny (Bill) Miller of Dunlap; one son, William (Dana) Olson of Peoria; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer, Gabriella, Chloe, Nick, and Max; 2 great-grandchildren, Noah and Gavin; and one sister, Shirley Roberson of Kewanee. His parents, one infant son, Leif, two brothers, Bruce and Clyde, and one sister, Janice Wood preceded him in death.
Neil was a United States Navy Veteran and was a member of the Dunlap American Legion. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company retiring in 1992. He also owned and operated Olson Tree Care. He attended Northwoods Community Church, Peoria.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Calvin Rychener will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Dunlap, with military honors by Dunlap American Legion.
