Obituary of Edwin A. Schaad

Princeville – Edwin A. Schaad, 94, a resident of Akron Township for many years, died at 2:38 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Toulon, where he has been a patient for the past year.

Ed was born on November 9, 1917, in Princeville, the son of John and Ethel Martin Schaad. He married Nellie Giffin on March 20, 1943, in Princeville. She preceded him in death on September 25, 1991, in Peoria. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Robert, Ralph, and Harold Schaad; and one sister, Hazel Schaad.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Donald (Judy) Poole of Princeville, David (and Ruth Ann) Giffin of Sparland, and Robert (Donna) Giffin of Pharr, TX.

Ed graduated from Princeville High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for 33 months during WWII. He and Nellie farmed in Akron Township until retiring in 1981.

He was a member of the Peoria County Farm Bureau and First Presbyterian Church.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Princeville Cemetery. Rev. Sue Robbins will officiate. There will be no visitation.
