Obituary of Marcia M. Whittaker

Laura – Marcia M. Whittaker, 91, of rural Laura, died at 4:20 pm Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL.

Marcia was born December 25, 1919 in Stark County, the daughter of Thomas and Wilna Catton Riggen.  She married Leland H. Whittaker on March16, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA.  He preceded her in death on April 26, 2008.

Surviving are three sons, Harold (and Joanne) Whittaker of McColl, SC, Paul (and Mary) Whittaker and Dennis (and Marcie) Whittaker, both of Princeville; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and one great great-granchild. 

She was preceded in death by two sons, Edward & Gerald Whittaker; two Brothers, Dorance & Weldon Riggen and one sister, Myrna Kelley.

She was a member of the Laura United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, February 14, 2011, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville.  Rev. Marc Brown will officiate.  Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.
