Obituary of Bertha E. Imes

Peoria – Bertha Edith (Garrison) “Bertha Fay” Imes, 92, a resident of J C Proctor Endowment Home, died at 12:52 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center.

She was born July 28, 1919, in Wayne County, IL, the daughter of Charles and Edith Turner Garrison, she married Melvin C. Imes in 1936, in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 1982, in Peoria. Also preceding her in death was a son, Ramon C. Imes; and two brothers, Berthol and Dale Garrison.

Surviving is one son, Ronald L. (Helen) Imes of Peoria; three grandchildren, Karry Lee Bennett of Sacramento, CA, Vickie Lynn Kelley of Las Banos, CA, and Joleen Bressner of Kickapoo; seven great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lyman Garrison of Tempe, AZ.

Bertha worked as a bookkeeper for Hult Advertising and later for Hannerhof Auto Transport until retiring. She was a fifty year member of the Peoria Women’s Club.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Mary Jane West will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. Burial will take place in Parkview Cemetery, Peoria.
